My starting point

Studying two foreign languages at the university, made me a language learner again. Sadly, I had only one teaching experience in each of my subjects during my studies. Hopefully, I will gain more experience next semester during our two-month internship. However, I gained valuable experience during my two-year internship in a DaZ (german as a second language) class which I did voluntarily. It was a class mostly of refugee children who learned German in order to continue study in actual classes. Sometimes I had the opportunity to teach German lessons, but mostly we divided our class because it was a very heterogenic class - some were more proficient than others.

All in all, I think that the profession of a teacher is more practical than it is theoretical, especially as a foreign language teacher. Therefore, the practical experience is very important. Furthermore, besides pedagogical knowledge and classroom management, it is very important that teachers focus on the learner: to encourage and motivate them, and to share with them the passion towards the foreign language and culture. Most importantly, I aim to make my students gain a high communicative knowledge.

Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions

This is an example of a teacher with a communicative approach to teach Spanish. Students use their iPads to organize, research, communicate and practice their skills.

I found an interesting article about the impacts of technology in teaching. In general, teachers have an positive attitude toward technology and many report positive learning outcomes.
